Celebrating the Keel Laying ceremony of the FLEXI LNG 7800 M3 – HYBRID project at the shipyard RMK Marine.
Yesterday Apr 13, we celebrated the Keel Laying ceremony of the FLEXI LNG 7800 M3 – HYBRID project at the shipyard RMK Marine.
Now the construction of the blocks will be intensified, and the vessel will take shape step by step for launching in autumn.
“It is with joy that we celebrate this keel laying and now we will see the block be erected and the vessel will take shape”, said Jonas Backman, MD Sirius Shipping AB.
The vessel, named Celsius, is scheduled to be delivered in the summer of 2027 and it will be a part of the Gasum LNG / BIO-LNG logistics network.
Celsius has been commissioned as a joint venture together by shipping company Sirius Shipping and Nordic energy company Gasum Group. The vessel is an important part of Gasum’s strategy to secure the availability of LNG and bio-LNG to its customers in the Northwestern European area, as demand increases in coming years.
Celsius will be different from other LNG bunker vessels since it will have a gas combustion unit on board to assist with cool downs and gassing up. A unique service that will be offered to vessels either carrying LNG or powered by LNG.
Sirius Shipping was founded by the Backman family on the island of Donsö. The shipping company has extensive experience of carrying out safe and efficient transport of, among other things, oil products, biofuels, chemicals and LNG in Northern Europe. Transport is carried out with modern tankers and with well-trained personnel, in close cooperation between the vessels and the land organization. Sirius operates 11 product/chemical tankers and 2 LNG tankers and has a further 3 product/chemical tankers under commercial management. Sirius is currently renewing its fleet with 7 newbuilding’s in different segments.
